We are excited to be the opening act for this year's fabulous Melbourne Village Festival at North Fitzroy’s Edinburgh Gardens. Come and be delighted by our wonderful songs from the Balkans and stay for more; the festival goes from Friday 28 to Sunday 30 October.
The main live music programme includes gypsy, latin, brassy hip-hop, mariachi music, smokin’ jazz, bluegrass and much, much more. Everyone is invited to get creative, whether it is in the crafty workshops, playing an instrument in the orchestra or up on the dance floor. Lots of fun for all ages.
As always, The Village Festival features delicious drinks and scrumptious food.
SEE YOU THERE.
Anja & Zlatna invites you to our next humanitarian concert at Church of All Nations. We hope to raise much needed funds for educational resources for Children in Immigration Detention as all the proceeds will go to Befriend a Child in Detention project. The programme will feature beautiful and intricate music from Serbia, Russia, Hungary, Moldova, Macedonia, Bosnia and Bulgaria. Any donation is welcome, but if you are not in a position to donate, please come and enjoy our music and community.
Anja & Zlatna perform a special programme in a fundraising concert for a Serbian humanitarian organisation „Мајка девет Југовића“ (води шест народних кухиња широм Космета у којима се храни преко две хиљаде људи).
Join Anja & Zlatna on a musical adventure introducing the Balkans, a region imbued with a fascinating and curious history. With subjects of love, lust, jealousy, pride and turmoil, this is folk music of a diverse melodic and rhythmic tradition, enriched by a playful and exquisite musico-cultural crossroads. When the Roads Meet includes songs from Serbia, Greece, Romania, Bosnia, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Moldova and Russia. Hear melodies which have sprung from centuries long past and retained powerful threads and themes which still reach present day communities. Anja & Zlatna’s delightful musical interpretations will transport you to the faraway lands of the beautiful Balkans.
Anja & Zlatna invite you to embark on a musical journey of hardship, loss, grief and catharsis; a program that connects those universal values of humanity, which is ultimately challenging and rewarding. Inspired by a variety of repertoire from the Balkans and beyond, Love & Other Secrets brings together heavenly a capella chant, heart-breaking sevdah from Bosnia, colourful Russian street music, a homage to madness in ‘Yo soy La Locura’ and fiery improvisations in the Spanish Fandango. With harmony intrinsic to these songs, the voices of Anja and Zlatna will delight the soul and the versatility of the instrumentalists will charm the ears with the colours of unexpected combination.
